Tithing Kiosk… Ummm…

Published by leavingreligion at 10:30 pm under Christianity, Church

The “Giving Kiosk” is a product that makes me go, “Why the hell didn’t I think of that!?”  Not really, because I could never live with myself… but seriously… it’s a little crazy.  I just can’t imagine walking into church where there is a flashing kiosk asking me for my money.

Although, thinking about it more, at least one of the main things the church really wants is now front and center.  They definitely aren’t hiding what they want with one of these cool things out front.

Why GivingKIOSK?

Too many Church organizations do not have the convenience of paying by credit card or debit and losing the ability to capture Tithes and Offerings that the church may not have otherwise received. Checks are on the decline and the Church community needs a way to keep up with the changing landscape of the younger generation. GivingKIOSK was developed and designed to meet this need.

Yep… use your credit card.  Go into debt.  Spend more money.  Oh, and now… feel guilty when you pass by a kiosk, after putting nothing in the plate.

This is pure awesome!

I hope every church buys one but all the church attenders find them crass and refuse to use them.

That GivingKiosk is voluntary, and a tip-toe through the tulips compared to Pike County, PA where the county court, and Hon. Jospeh Kameen have been ordering people to attend church and pay the Scranton Diocese $500 for traffic infractions.

“Choose your battles well,” (Jason Scala).

Hey… not sure where you got that pic from, but our church just installed one. The pastor said that is could accept credit and debit, but they choose to only accept debit. I never carry a checkbook or cash anymore so it works for me. :-) What can I say, I kind of a geek!

Malachi 3:10 says “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

    “Prove me now herewith.”

God is actually giving permission for a controlled scientific experiment of whether tithing works (and by extension whether God exists).

Why don’t some fundamentalists do this? It shouldn’t be hard. A bunch of Christians keep accounts for a year of tithing, and then a year of non-tithing.

If they’re no better during the year of tithing, God either doesn’t exist or has lied. If they find a statistical correlation that they are better off for tithing, I’ll shut up.
