I've seen Christians tell other Christians that god will provide for them. They just need to seek him and pray to him and trust in him. I've seen people do this with everything they have (from mental belief to giving their last dime... and I mean last dime). I've seen them do this, and I've seen their lives only get worse. Perhaps instead of giving their money to the church, and crying out to god, they should have taken the money and used it for something useful, and instead of crying out to god, they should have gone and done something to change their situation.

I made a broad statement, that I stick to. You said to address legitimate problems in what Christians practice. My above example is what real Christians, I know or knew, practice. People seek god everyday... and they get silence in return.

"'God is either imaginary, malevolent, or it/he/she has some explaining to do.' All of the above."

I am not just trying to poke holes in what you say (not that there's anything wrong with that), but I sincerely don't understand how an imaginary being can be malevolent or be responsible to anyone to explain something. How do you hold an imaginary being responsible or judge the behavior of an imaginary being?

Can you explain how a being can simultaneously be imaginary, malevolent, and under obligation to explain behavior?

"Really nice idea, but if the above were true, I doubt we’d have world hunger. How many people call out to God to be fed and clothed and taken care of and get no answer?"

It seems your under the assumption that calling out to God for food is equivalent to seeking Christ's kingdom. If this is your point, then your criticism is of a misunderstanding of what Jesus said and not of what he actually said. He said stop seeking these things, and seek my kingdom and seek righteousness and these things will be given to you.

Of course there are millions of people who call out to a god or gods to be fed, but it seems pretty clear that this isn't what it means to seek Christ's kingdom.

There are some challenging criticisms of Christian teaching and Christian behavior, but this isn't one of them. Some of your posts make legitimae points that should cause Christians to consider what they do to people. But you actually distract from that with a post like this. Your anti-Christian cause gains more respect by addressing legitimate problems in what Christians teach and practice instead of caricatures of your own making.

Funny. I was just going to do a post on the subject. There is also the verse about how God provides for the birds, so he'll certainly provide for you (Matthew 6:25-26). What a load. Children starve to death every day because they were born to the wrong parents in the wrong part of the world.
