I know, I know… everyone is doing it…

Glitter GloveSo, why shouldn’t I.  Michael Jackson had a major impact on my music choices when I was a kid.  My poor mother had to watch me moonwalk and turn and go up on my tippy toes.  I just wanted to dance like him… and I couldn’t.  Not at all.  I was horrible.  I remember a friend showing the ‘Making of Thriller’ on VHS at a slumber party and we all thought it was scary, and amazing, and that it was changing the world.  A music video that was more than just Sting in front of a red light.  Now this was something.

With al of his personal issues in the press… it’s hard to know exactly how to feel about the outpouring of tributes.  I for one still respected the guy for his music, and the way in which he changed pop-culture forever.  I didn’t respect a thing he did personally… and in fact, I actually felt a lot of compassion for him.  Like I do for anyone (famous or not) who grows up in complete and udder madness and chaos.  It’s a sad situation all around… him, his family, those affected by him negatively.

Today… I honor the musician, not the man.
